Today, I want to talk to you about a bicycle frame stripping method that we sometimes use to meet our customers’ requests. It involves sandblasting the frames. Frames may be in a poor condition, with clear signs of rust or superficial defects. In this case, to give new life to the frame, we remove the previous paint by “blasting”, by means of sand-blasted air.

I shall digress.

It takes a lot of experience to decide to “blast” the frame because we need to assess the material of the frame itself and its general condition.

Again, technology provides us with various types of sand or even aluminium powder.

This frame sandblasting procedure is definitely the most effective method for bringing the frame back to its original state. Even after sandblasting, the frame must still be analysed for any defects to be skilfully corrected before proceeding with the new pain treatment.
